Microsoft Office Project 2003 FamilyThe last version of the world’s best selling project scheduling tool comprises two different versions, Standard and Professional. Although this version has been superceded by Project 2007 it is still in wide use and capable of more than satsifying the majority of user needs. Both versions are a natural evolution from previous versions of the scheduling tool and for those familiar with Microsoft Project 2000 the core functionality is unchanged. Both versions are designed to more closely fit the Office family of products and have the same look and feel as Word, Excel etc. The Standard version will work with Microsoft Office Project Server 2003 to allow basic collaboration on projects amongst teams but it does not have the fully featured functionality supported by the professional version. The Standard version is ideally suited to users running standalone projects or organisations where high level reporting and analysis is not essential. The Professional version is designed to integrate with Microsoft Office Project Server 2003 and supports “Enterprise Level” functionality including more fully featured collaboration utilising “SharePoint”. The Professional version is suited to organisations that are looking to co-ordinate projects, people and teams within departments, divisions or across the entire Enterprise. |
